How to Select a Clinical Research Partner in South Africa

21 October 2026

Selecting a clinical research partner in South Africa should be a study decision, not a brochure decision. Local presence matters. It does not tell you whether the partner can see a failing site, challenge a CRO, or keep a programme coherent across vendors.

Questions that separate partners

Ask for the operating model, not the organogram. Who reviews monitoring reports, and how quickly? What does escalation look like when a site misses a threshold? What has the partner actually delivered, in numbers they are willing to stand behind? How do they treat sponsor accountability when the activity is outsourced?

The relevant services are concrete: clinical trial management, monitoring, sponsor oversight and site management. A partner who cannot describe the difference is a partner who will blur them on your study.

The setting is described on clinical trials in South Africa. Experience should be readable as selected outcomes, not as unnamed praise.
